St. Patrick's Day and the First Day of Spring

It's become an annual tradition for us and a couple of our friends to attend the St. Patrick's Day parade in downtown Indy. This year, we'd thought the parade would be on Saturday so our big kids could attend, since St. Patrick's Day was on Saturday. Unfortunately, they prefer to keep it during the week due to police staff and not overwhelming the area on a weekend.

Elizabeth has such an affection for horses!! She gets so excited when she sees them and just had to have her picture with them in the background! Caroline's dear friend, Julia, is beside her and Matthew's buddy, Jackson, is on the other.

We figured out that this is the 3rd year that we've been going and have declared our "spot" along the route. All three of the families that go have 4 kids each with 2 boys and 2 girls per family. We are such parade junkies -- we arm the kids with grocery sacks for collecting all their candy!

Mr. Big Stuff!! We just love sweet Matthew and his handsome, kissable face!

We had our "green" dinner and added in Leprauchaun juice this year. Caroline had it in her class at school and requested it for us at home. It was cream soda with green food coloring in it.

The blue eyes and the brown eyes enjoyed our special mint brownies!

FIRST DAY OF SPRING

As per tradition, we made our rainbow cake on the first day of Spring. This year, I had a fantastic helper. Elizabeth loves to help when I'm baking in the kitchen! She had a ball putting in the colors into the various batters and mixing them.

She also did a great job pouring the batter into the cake pans.

 Matthew woke up from his nap just in time to "help" while we were cleaning up... They had to make sure the batter tasted good!

Once again, the blue-eyed and brown-eyed enjoyed our special treat!
