Appleworks

A favorite fall activity for us is going to the pumpkin patch. We used to go to Waterman's when the oldest kids were little, but since the addition of the younger two, we've been going to Appleworks since we have a friend that we visit who lives nearby. After a playdate this morning, we risked the weather and it was great! Thankfully, I dressed the kids in their boots as it was a little muddy...

Since it was a weekday with iffy weather, they didn't have all of the extra stuff going on (trikes, train rides, pony rides, etc.) which was a plus for me...extra stuff I didn't have to say 'no' for! We walked around, checked out the animals,

fed the goats (an exciting time for all!!),
Elizabeth especially thought the goats were pretty funny!

threw leaves in the river (another exciting time for all!!),
took lots of pictures
and enjoyed apple slushies.
We didn't end up getting pumpkins there as I figured they'd be a bit pricey -- why is it at cutesy little places items are exorbidently overpriced?!? I happened to see a roadside place with tons of pumpkins that I thought would be better priced on the way there. As it turned out, they had run out of pumpkins at Appleworks and were $.35 a pound for what they did have already picked. At the roadside place, they were already picked and sorted by size. We found some good sized ones for $2 a piece! After weighing the pumpkins when we got home, I found out that I got 3 pumpkins (approximately 10 pounds each) for $6 that would have cost $10 at Appleworks. YEAH! I love good deals.
