Sisterly Love

Elizabeth came to me this morning and said, "Mama, can you read this to me?" I looked up from whatever I was doing to see her holding her Princess notebook. I initially thought it was something she had written, not completely sure I would be able to decipher the marks upon the page. To my surprise, I found this:
A note from Caroline

Dear Elizabeth,
I hope you like the picture I made you! It is a picture of you and me holding hands. I looooooooooooove you! You are very silly, crazy, and sweet. You are the best sister in the whole wide world. Lots of hugs and kisses, Caroline. XOXOXOXOXOXO Love, XOXOXO Caroline
I was nearly in tears when I got done discussing this picture with Elizabeth! It was so sweet of Caroline to write her this note and draw her a picture. It is neat to see this new sister bond developing between the girls since they began sharing a room. I, of course, had to document this as when they are teenagers, the notes may not be near as sweet!!

We have had several occasions where our oldest child was not being the kindest to her siblings. That broke our hearts! We sat her down and talked with her about how she is not being nice. We challenged her to be more kind to her siblings as they adore her! We have seen significant improvement and have given her praise for how she has changed. We know that it has also been a result of lots of prayers for God to soften her heart and see that she is really learning how her actions affect others.
