Matthew started standing on his own a while ago, but since he's been hit with several colds, pink eye (courtesy of his loving sister) and a double ear infection, he's not wanted to do much except be held. We think we are closer to being healthy again rather than being sick, which is a good thing considering this is Christmas week.
I've been able to catch a him a few times in the act...
He's pretty steady standing on his own, but if we try to get him to take steps, he will immediately drop down to crawl or grab for our hands to help him take steps. It's a bittersweet time to know that our baby is heading into the next stage -- exciting for him to become more independent, yet not so much as he'll be getting into so much more. He's still several months ahead of his siblings, so I don't feel any need to rush him along.
It would be a nice Christmas gift for him to take his first steps on Christmas day.
