We started out with a good Irish start to our day by having Lucky Charms for breakfast. Well, it was actually the knock-off Marshmallow Mateys, but we still call them Lucky Charms. They are magically delicious, regardless of brand name!

One super-cute leprechaun!

It was a beautiful sunny day, so I decided on a spontaneous trip to the St. Patrick's Day Parade in downtown Indianapolis. We called a few friends because more people not only make it more chaotic, but also more fun! Several had originally declined, but then came to their senses and knew it was going to be a fantastic day for a parade -- besides, everyone loves a parade and a lot of candy doesn't hurt either!
Our friends are 'parade professionals' and came prepared with their grocery sacks for candy collecting. I just had large pockets that the kids just kept jamming the candy into!! We'll be ready the next time!!
I believe we saw every Catholic school in the city, perhaps even the state! Along with the firemen and the Emerald Society. We even saw Billy the Kidney, who was mistakenly identified at first as a California Raisin, since it is National Kidney Month. It was quite the learning experience for us all!!
Elizabeth and her best friend Brooke were getting the hang of how to get candy.
Matthew LOVES beads! He was having fun with Aunt Susan!
Yep... another learning experience. This group did a routine with their lawnchairs. Interesting. Not sure what it has to do with St. Patrick's. Guess I may need to be Irish to figure out some of this!!
This was after the Civil War re-enactors fired their guns. Why they were in the St. Patrick's Day parade I'm not sure, there's that Irish thing again, but my kids were a bit startled and ready for the next shot to go off!
One of several bagpipe groups. I'm facinated by the drummer when he spins the fluffy drumsticks.
We had our traditional 'green' dinner....pesto, lime jello and broccoli.
and green sugar cookies with green frosting and M&M shamrocks...a whole lotta green and sugar!! YUM!!
Love it!! I knew you would have such fun holiday stuff planned! I might have to see if there is a lawnchair preforming group around here-- that sounds right up my alley. lol
