After a trip earlier in the week to 4 different stores to secure a free ticket, we were definitely headed to the State Fair this week! Before you think that I spent more in gas to get to the 4 stores, they were all on the way home. It was well worth my 75 cents to get the "free" ticket in the paper that otherwise would have cost $8 admission price!

No trip to the fair is complete without a picture of a boy on a tractor!

We met up with a friend who has kiddos the same age as our younger two. Jonathan didn't seem to mind that he was the oldest and without a friend his age, he did great with the younger ones! We started out in the animal barns. We saw cows, horses, sheep and pigs. One of my favorite parts was Elizabeth imitating the sounds of the animals. The kids took more of a 'hands-off' approach when it came to the animals in most cases.
We then headed to an interactive area for the kiddos called 'Little Hands on the Farm'. The kids get to have aprons and baskets while walking through the various farm barns picking up items and delivering them.

Jonathan loved riding on the pedal tractors!
Elizabeth wasn't so sure she wanted to feed the cows the soybeans.
She did a great job milking the cow!
We tried to pick up as many free items as we could -- samples here and there. Elizabeth got to try maple syrup and maple cream. It was yummy! We also got to see a couple of my former co-workers at the Farm Bureau building.
We then visited the FFA building. Here they had a fun play area for the kiddos.
Best buddies cheesin' it up!
Matthew wasn't all that impressed apparently! He'd actually gone without a morning nap and was very pleasant!
The tire swing was a hit with all 3 kids! At one point, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Brooke were all swinging on it! They were going in circles so quickly that none of the pictures turned out.
Jonathan and I played a few holes of miniature golf. He was really pretty good. Perhaps we have a future golfer on our hands! Looks like he's got a good stance to me!
