February recap

To sum up February, we have had snow, the 12 days of Valentine's, more snow, 3 trips to the Children's Museum, the Olympics and even more snow! This picture doesn't even capture it when we had enough to cover the umbrella holder in the table!
Here are some recaps for each of us:

David successfully survived the conversion of the data system at work. It all occurred over Valentine's weekend. He's worked lots of overtime and the kiddos have missed him....me too! (Note: due to his absence from home and extra time at work...there are not many picture of him this month!)

I've managed to stay sane after all the snow and many days upon days at home. It always seemed like more work to get everyone bundled up to go anywhere and it was fun to be able to have jammie days just playing at home. (Note: due to above mentioned absence and the fact that I'm the other photographer...there aren't any pictures of me this month either...)

Caroline has taken off in reading. She is reading at about a 5th grade level even though she is just in 1st grade. Some might say she is following in my footsteps... She loves to get up early in the mornings to be able to read before going to school. She loves chapter books, but will pretty much read anything she can get her hands on!
Jonathan has also been known to read a few words here and there. It's rather impressive as he's not had "formal" teaching other than us reading to him, along with a little bit of Sesame Street, Super Why and Starfall.com to guide him. He's registered to begin kindergarten in the fall. Elizabeth has really become a chatterbox! She and Jonathan are often inseparable during the day. It's been so fun to see the bond develop between our blue-eyed kiddos!
I still have a hard time remembering that she is still only 2 when she is conversing in complete sentences. We've started having a few battle-of-the-wills and see some of the independence of a nearly 3 year old coming out in her. She seems to have a very tender will and is easily corrected...so far!
Matthew is growing so quickly! He's walking much more than crawling most days -- unless he wants to get somewhere fast. His speed is improving daily along with new verbal sounds and words. He's also developing a fondness for hats...isn't he adorable?!?
