Jonathan is 6!!
We can hardly believe that our blue-eyed boy is six!! Sweet Jonathan has had a big year. He has adjusted well to kindergarten and is improving his reading skills. Nearly, everytime I look at him, he looks taller and more grown up. We love that he still loves to curl up in our laps to snuggle and read books or watch videos. He has taken his new responsiblility as the elder child in the boys room very seriously! He and Matthew are developing a new bond. Jonathan is very much like his daddy -- an emotional fella at times! We are continuing to work with him on "being tough" but in a sensitive way. We are so glad that he came to stay with us!!
We combine the boys birthdays when celebrating with family since they are just two days apart. I will probably never ever forget (or David won't allow me to forget!) the cake frosting incident from two years ago when I was days from giving birth to Matthew. I nearly had a nervous breakdown!! I've since conquered my frosting issues, so much so, that the boys cakes had to stay in the refrigerator less the frosting would all pool around the bottom of the cake!! Regardless of how they look, we definitely prefer homemade butter cream frosting! Jonathan requested an Iron Man cake this year. Probably one of the easier cakes I've done over the years!
He received lots of fun gifts. Some that topped the list were a blow-up orange guitar, magnetix and videos.
Our traditional rocking chair birthday picture. Thankfully, we had celebrated with family early as he ended up sick with the flu on his birthday. We were sad that he was sick, but glad to have him home with us for the entire day on his birthday! He perked up after lunch which was a pleasant surprise after a rough morning!
The girls were excited to help him open his birthday gifts from us that evening.
He wanted to look at each and every page in his Transformers Blendy Pen book.
He would probably say that his most favorite gift he received was his Bakaugan. I'd heard him mention them and had found a set (marked-down, of course!) He is facinated with how they snap open from a ball when you drop them. He also likes how they are magnetic as well. It's fun to see his little mind imagine and pretend with them!
