Generals in Paradise

Tonight we experienced a first of many to come -- Family Fun night at school. David was not too excited about going, but Caroline's persistant asking got us to go. We really didn't know what to expect. It was really just a night of the teachers being silly putting on a variety show. I'm sure the students don't always get to see them this way. Since the theme was "Generals in Paradise" we were encouraged to wear Hawaiian attire. Thankfully, we'd been to a Luau for New Year's Eve!
This is Miss Parrish dressed as an old lady. They did a dance with their canes. It was fun.
Mrs. Noland, the aide, was in a skit about scouts. She seems like she probably was in Girl Scouts!
Nearly every day, Caroline would come home singing the song the Kindergarten teachers were performing. It's called 'Down by the Bay'. I'd never heard it before, but all the kids knew it. Perhaps they do it every year in Kindergarten? She was so excited to be able to do the motions and was rather serious about it! And just incase you were wondering, that is her teacher on the right end with the Buffalo hat on. I'm not sure what that's all about!
We ended up sitting on the gym floor in the 'kid section'. There weren't alot of seats on the bleachers and most people didn't seem to want to help out a family with 4 small kids. As it turned out, we were situated right in front of the speakers. David was wishing for his headphones (remember, from the previous post that Jonathan was wearing) not only for the speaker volume, but for the scream factor. Why is it that whenever there are large groups of children gathered they love to scream?? Interestingly enough, Elizabeth thought that may have been the best part of the night! She would raise her hands and scream whenever the big kids did! She also would clap whenever anyone else did -- just a little mimic!
Jonathan's favorite part was the popcorn! You would have thought that these kids didn't eat for several days the way they devoured the popcorn! Seriously, we'd just fed them dinner.
My sweet Caroline!
Daddy and one silly girl.
Who knew that even in a gym filled with hundreds of screaming children, loud music and other ruckus -- namely silly string -- our sweet Matthew decided to take a little snooze. Since it was so loud, he could have been screaming and no one would have known.

It was a fun evening -- a bit of a twist on our normal family fun nights!
