Children's Museum

Since Caroline didn't have school today (yeah for teacher in-services!!) and my dear mother-in-law wasn't working, we went to the Children's Museum. Seriously, do you really think I could handle an outing like that by myself?!? The kids were great today and we had such a good time!

As soon as we got there, we headed up to the Carousel. This was Matthew's first visit to the museum (outside of my belly!). He seemed to enjoy himself throughout the day. We've learned to ride the carousel first because their aren't any lines. We rode it 4 times without getting off!
This is a horse similar to the penny pony that we used to ride at the grocery store (before someone selfishly bought them for their own grandkids). Apparently, this particular horse originally was at an Atlas Grocery store and they charged -- and still do -- 5 cents.

Our main objective of the day was to visit the new Lego exhibit. Legos have entered our lives and the kids LOVE them -- especially Jonathan. We didn't get to the exhibit until after lunch, but we managed to stay there for several hours. It was a bit overwhelming at first for Jonathan... he didn't know where to go first! There were several large items built from Legos -- including this dragon. It reminded me of when we visited Downtown Disney several years ago. There is a Lego store there with lots of big Lego creations.
The girls spent some time in the reading nook. Several times Elizabeth flopped down on the dragon chairs...it was pretty funny.
There were some very detailed castles made that were on turntables so you could get a 360 view of them. Jonathan thought they were pretty neat!
Most of the time was spent at the building tables. Because it was the 'Castle Adventure' many of the Lego pieces had a medival theme to them. Caroline was excited about this horse and rider. She said it was a girl Lego figure. On our way out we checked out the ginormous knight on his trusty steed. This was made out of the bigger duplo sized blocks. Still pretty impressive.

They are doing some major renovation/expansion at the Children's Museum. They've taken advantage of the Lego exhibit and have these Lego construstion workers along the construction area. The kids thought they were pretty cool.As I mentioned earlier, Matthew had a great day and he was all smiles as we were leaving. Have I said just how much fun we had today?!?
