Christ the Lord is Risen Today!

Easter has taken on a whole new meaning to us this year. We've had a copy of the movie "Passion of the Christ" for several years, but due to be being pregnant or in fragile post-partum mental and emotional state the past few Easters, we had not watched it until this year. I'm a very visual person. Throughout the movie, I was sick to my stomach. David was very moved by this movie as well. We've both read the Biblical account numerous times, but to see it visually and graphically depicted as in this movie was a different story. I am so thankful for Christ's suffering and dying on the cross in my place, but I'm even more thankful for the resurrection! Hallelujah! What a Savior!

We gathered at David's parents for Easter lunch and some great family time. We had no idea what the afternoon had in store for us! The meal was great and we also celebrated two family birthdays. The weather finally cooperated and we were able to have the children's egg hunt outside. Caroline had a blast! Uncle Bruce took little Elizabeth under his wing and helped her along. She did pretty good considering she's not even two yet! Thankfully, Grammy color codes each child's eggs.

My sweet girls in yellow!

Jonathan also had a good time. I think he had more fun shaking his bag hearing the money jingling in the eggs.

Caroline's a happy girl whenever there is something sweet involved...

Speaking of sweetness! Elizabeth is one funny kid. She was definitely working on a sugar high!

Papa and Grammy gave the grandkids marshmallow shooters this year. The parents at first said "not in the house" but Grammy said she didn't care....so the war broke out! Notice how David seemed to confiscate one of our childrens shooters!

There were marshmallows flying, whizzing past faces and making some direct hits! It was a good hour or so of fun! I think the adults had as much, if not more in some cases, fun as the kids. David was the king of reconfiguring the shooter, but Caroline had a pretty good reconfigure as well that would have the marshmallow shoot out the back. She was so proud of her invention and thought it was pretty funny too!
Jonathan tried to keep up playing with the big boys!

In the end, there were a few marshmallows ground into the carpet. Those were the ones that Elizabeth missed in picking up and eating! Of course, in all good marshmallow fights, there is bound to be some shrapnel. Here is an example of David's backside. We normally say he has a flat spot, but does this qualify for a marshmallow butt??

Meanwhile, Matthew managed to take a nap in Uncle David's lap. How he slept through the laughter and marshmallows flying by amazed me!

Good times! We came home still full from lunch and sweet goodness snacking! Surprisingly, the children hadn't slipped into sugar comas yet! We popped some popcorn and watched the Veggietales Easter Carol.
